So I've been here 1 week and generally, things look better today than they did a week ago! A few minor ups and downs. First, the weather hasn't been as bad as I expected. It's gloomy but not terribly cold. There has been a little bit of rain but the drizzly kind that just gets your hair wet and doesn't warrant taking out an umbrella. I probably just cursed tomorrow into a downpour with that comment!
I did find an apartment on my first day out with my realtor last week! It is a super cute place not too far from Notting Hill. Big windows and a little balcony overlooking a tree-lined street - it really does feel like a movie! Unfortunately my biggest downer of the week is that even though I HAD a lease agreed with the landlord, it turns out that in London that isn't secure until the lease is actually signed. So while I had even paid a security deposit, he was still shopping it around with other agents and got a better offer. So I'm back out again!
The good news is that I had seen a good backup place. I can't even remember all the details about it except that I liked the feel of the living room, it had a dishwasher and an odd little bathroom with no separate shower - just a shower head on the wall and a drain in the middle of the floor! I hope I like it because I've agreed to at least a 6 month lease rather than starting over again looking! My dad liked that it came with an alarm system. :)
In the interest of keeping this post not TOO long, I'll wrap up with a few things I encountered over the weekend...
A picturesque fountain I passed in Hyde Park during my Saturday morning run.
I also ran by this little place - that's Kensington Palace where Princess Diana lived!
I told you not to come to this website for great photos! This is me demostrating my self-photo-taking skills. And to prove that I am really here. I know this cut off the top of Big Ben, but the other one I took cut off my face, so this seemed like the better option!

Hello
I have moved to London! So I'm writing this blog as a record of my time here and travels. If you are looking for a blog that is particularly clever or witty, this probably isn't it. If you are looking for brilliant pictures of the places I visit, you should check out instagram. What you will find are the stories of the places I go, pictures of me in front of important things and my observations of the people I met and things I see. I'll try to use proper grammer (that's for you Mom). But most importantly, I will try to create a story for the people I know and love. And something for me to look back on when I have forgotten the details and feelings of each experience. Enjoy! Or should I say "Cheers"? It still feels forced. :) ~Amy
